A DA 90 site that's a poor topical fit for your keyword still won't carry it the way a DA 75 site in your exact niche will. We've said this on nearly every platform page on this site for a reason.
A high DA domain with poor indexing health on its own pages is a weaker bet than the raw number suggests.
Keyword difficulty, current SERP competition, and the host's editorial acceptance rate all matter as much as the domain's authority score. That's exactly the judgment call a real campaign audit makes, and a number alone can't.
03 — Common Mistakes
The mistake we see constantly, even from people who've read every guide on this site: treating DA as the single deciding factor and ignoring topical fit entirely. A DA 90 platform where your content has no business being will get the page pulled or deindexed, sometimes weeks after it ranked, regardless of how impressive that 90 looked in a checker. The second mistake: comparing DA scores across different tools as if they're the same scale. Moz's DA and Ahrefs' DR are calculated differently, and a domain scoring 85 on one isn't necessarily equivalent to an 85 on the other. If you're going to compare two domains, compare them on the same metric from the same source, not DA from one tool against DR from another.
